I Went on a trip to NY then drove down to Washington D.C and went to the Smithsonian Air and Space museum, and you could spend the whole day there, theres a lot of interesting history and explanation of how turbines work and internal combustion engines... Radial engines look amazing

Ever visited the National Museum of the USAF in Dayton?

It's airplane overload.

If you visit on Thursday through Sunday you can get over to the Presidential and R&D galleries on base.

It's an absolute must for any airplane enthusiast.

Not to mention they have the actual Wright Brothers plane there and tons of other cool stuff!

I was just there a year or two ago, it was awesome. There is another Smithsonian air and space museum about an hour or two drive from DC in Virginia. It's the Udvar-Hazy Center and it is unreal, they have all the historically significant planes (Enola Gay, SR-71 blackbird) and a space shuttle. The one they had when I was there was the landing training shuttle that had never been to space, but I think it has since been replaced with a real one and the trainer was sent to the Enterprise in NYC. They also have fighter jets from all eras and countries. It's a must see for any plane enthusiast.

Next time you go to DC go the the Udvar Hazy Smithsonian out in Virginia. 2nd best aviation museum in the states (world?) behind USAF in Ohio.

Tripled. Udvar is utterly astonishing in its collection. I mean, Enola Gay. The first 707 hanging from the ceiling. A Concorde. A space shuttle. Yow!
